Newport City Dogs Home has won gold at the 2020 RSPCA Cymru PawPrint awards for their work with stray dogs.

PawPrints is an annual award scheme that recognises good practice from public bodies in relation to animal welfare.  There are number of categories including; recognition for stray dog provision, animal licensing work, contingency planning and housing policies.  Each category is judged on specific criteria and there are bronze, silver and gold standards in each.

Councillor Ray Truman, cabinet member for licensing and regulation, congratulated the team on their achievement saying: “This award is a well-deserved recognition for the tireless work done by everyone at Newport City Dogs Home.  Congratulations to all involved and thank you for the work you do to provide a safe environment for the dogs in your care.”
