Primary school meals

Lunch is a hot main meal with dessert, with an option for pupils on a vegetarian or halal diet and a selection of vegetables, fresh fruit, yoghurt and cheese is available.

Water is freely available and all pupils in nursery and infant schools receive one third of a pint of free milk each day. 

From September 2023, all Newport primary pupils in local authority-maintained schools will be able to have a free school meal.

Vegetarian and halal options are always available.

Pupils with special dietary requirements should ask their family doctor for referral to the paediatric dietician, who will contact the school meal service if necessary.
