Age Friendly Wales: Our strategy for an Ageing society
A strategy for an ageing society was released by the Welsh government in October 2021. The strategy focuses on creating Age Friendly Communities and the benefits for older people in Wales, enabling us to better support people living in challenging circumstances.
Older Persons Commissioner for Wales
The Older Persons Commissioner is working for Wales where older people are valued, rights are upheld, and none is left behind. Information can be found on help and support available and finding out about your rights.

LGBT+ Rainbow call companion
Rainbow call companions is a free telephone befriending service for LGBT+ people who are lonely, isolated or in need of companionship and feel they would benefit from a friendly phone call every week or two.
This is a service specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender plus (LGBT+) people aged 75+ who would like to speak to someone who is also LGBT+.

Newport 50+ Forum
The Forum provides a voice for the over 50s in Newport and members volunteer to help improve the quality of life for older people by influencing the way services are planned.
Members work with Newport City Council, health, local business and voluntary organisations.
The Forum is a committee of elected members and anyone can join for free.
Public meetings are held in January, April, July and October from 2- 4pm at THE PLACE, Bridge Street towards the end of the month. Look for the dates in Grassroots in the Argus or on our Facebook page (search Newport 50+ Forum).
Everyone is welcome, just turn up, get informed, get involved and share your views!
Companionship Care at Home
Newport Care Homes are launching a new companionship service for elderly people who are at home and may be suffering from loneliness.
